Hardware Features
Extremely reliable hardware
The design of the unit and ventilation fan help ensure air flow, which is critical in holding down temperatures inside the case. The fan used id very quiet. It also monitors temperatures within the case and automatically regulates the fan speed for quiet yet effective cooling.
Utilizes specially designed, highly reliable power supply unit

The components are rigorously designed to handle high-temperature environments and extended operation. The highly reliable power supply withstands even continuous 24-hour-a-day use.BUFFALO recommend confidently to even business users with systems running for long hours.
Front panel dust filter
The filter prevents dust from getting inside the unit, which reduces the load on the fan and contributes to more stable operation.
Hot-swappable hard drive

The inernal drives are hot-swappable,so they can be replaced in the event of a hard drive failure, with no need to switch off the power. It is designed to minimize effects on the system when disks are replaced.
The RAID array absent the failed hard drive allows the system to be used as usual, even while the drive is being replace,so there is no extra obstacle to normal business operations.
Port Trunking

UPS Support
Supports devices from Schneider Electric and Omron.
RAID Modes
The TS3200D is equipped with two internal hard disk drives and features RAID technology, which allows storage to be configured in accordance with the user's needs, recognizing and displaying multiple hard drives as a single drive. Using RAID 1 mode, for example, allows you to recover the stored content if one internal drive happens to fail, keeping your data safer as you use the device. If not using RAID, you can then use the Normal mode, in which the two drives are used as independent drives.

Safe and reliable administration, from security to operations
Joining Active Directory makes administration more efficient
The TS3200D features the ability to join Active Directory. In the Active Directory environment, the TS3200D uses the account information registered in the Active Directory server to control access to files and folders stored on the unit, so no separate account administration is required. Active Directory centralizes administration of account information, which vastly reduces the work of setup and administration, even with systems using multiple TS3200D units.

Advanced TeraStation access administration
• Group administration function provides flexibility and rigorous security
You can make other detailed settings to individual folders and files residing on the TS3200D, including specifying Windows, Mac, FTP, and backup public addresses and setting read-only and read-write attributes, backup passwords, and Recycle Bin/Trash settings. Access to shared folders can also be set individually for each group and user for secure, efficient data management.

[Example (right figure)]
Consider an example where Mr. A of the Design Group is allowed access to Design Group folders, but not to the Sales Group's folders. Folder B within the Design Group folder is read-only, so Mr. A cannot write to files in that folder.
• "DFS" Distributed File System simplifies access
This system allows users to access shared folders created on the TS3200D through shared folders on multiple TS3200Ds or PC file servers (up to eight DFS links can be set).

• Quota function sets capacity available to users and groups
Setting the appropriate amount of hard disk space available for each user and group prevents any one user or group from making excessive use of the hard drive.

• Hidden Share folder function is perfect for storing administrator files
You can make settings for the "Hidden Share folders," which are not displayed in the list of folders. These folders can be used as destinations for PC server backups and for saving system administrators' management data while the existence of the folders themselves is hidden from general users.
• Offline File function is convenient for mobile computer users
The TS3200D features the "Offline File" function included in Windows 8/7/Vista/XP/2000 and Windows Server 2012/2008/2003. This enables access to. This function enables users to access folders and files even when not connected to the network (offline). (Changes in files are synchronized between the computer and TS3200D the next time the user connects to the network).
Rest assured with disk encryption, even if the TS3200D is stolen

Using the TS3200D encryption settings allows you to encrypt data automatically as it is written to the drive. This means that even if the hard disk is removed and taken away, the data cannot be read with another computer or TeraStation. In addition, you can assign passwords to shared folders residing on the TeraStation so that only users with the password can access the files.
* With the encryption settings are used, files are encrypted and cannot be read on other devices. However, files that are not assigned passwords can be read on the encrypted TeraStation without a password.
Features security slot to guard against theft
A security slot is provided on the TS3200D's rear panel. Used with other security products, this feature is helpful in preventing theft of the unit. This is also recommended for units that are used in stores and offices.

ON/OFF Timer function runs the TS3200D only at selected times

This function allows the power to be switched on only at predetermined times, with up to three separate time settings available. This prevents wasted electricity when a user forgets to turn the power off, achieving both convenience and energy savings. The power switch can be controlled using up to three programmable weekday and weekend timer settings. This cuts energy waste after office hours, on days off, and at other times when the drive is not in use, thus reducing CO2 emissions and helping to protect the global environment.
Greater energy savings than with PC-based
The TS3200D also consumes less electricity than PC-based file servers, thus reducing both operation expenses and CO2 emissions. Running multiple units increases efficiency even more. We suggest the TeraStation as a superb way to reduce costs and help the environment.
Virus Check Expansion Pack Support (Planned)
"Virus Check" function automatically detects and removes infected files

Installing the Virus Check function on the TeraStation prevents the spread of viruses over the network. Even if a computer with insufficient virus protection connects to the network and sends a file infected with a virus to the TeraStation, the TeraStation with Virus Check automatically detects, removes, and quarantines the virus. This prevents other computers from accessing infected files before they are infected.
Expansion Pack Adds Virus Check

The TeraStation allows use of the OP-TSVC Series Expansion Pack.*1
Additionally, the Virus Check function can be used for an extended period with computers with the Virus Check function that are already using this expansion pack.
